For starters, I hate them. New years resolutions don't work. If there is really something you'd like to change about your life, you'd have done it a long time ago.
There is a resolution that I do encourage you to start. Resolve to be man/woman of God, resolve to put your life in Gods hands first. Resolve to be a Godly parent.... Men, it's ok to pray over your kids, it's ok if your kids catch you having a quiet time, it's ok if your kids catch you praying with your wife.
I read on Facebook every new years week about getting in better shape..... Before I go on, let me say, I'm a big proponent of being in shape, but, your number 1 resolution should be that your are working out your heart and soul before you start worrying about being in a yoga class. Like I said, if your goal is to get in better shape in 2012, by all means do it, but make sure you are spending as much time with Jesus as you are your personal trainer.
This leads me to obsessions...... There are those that are real workout junkies, I mean there entire life is resolved around the gym and eating healthy. They talk about Jesus being number 1, but you never see them at a local church. They'd rather run a race on a Sunday morning than lead a bible study......again, I'm not against this if it's your God called ministry. But, if you are a PT, and you are leading a class at the gym on a Sunday morning and it doesn't involve the Bible, you are wrong. Sorry for the harshness, but this is my opinion.
So, my resolution this year is not a new years resolution...... I resolve to be the man of my house spiritually, I resolve to be a Godly father, I resolve to help my family and friends become closer to Christ, and I also resolve to be in better shape, but not obsess about it.
